Spilled!

Some of you have anxiously been awaiting the story of our very first Halloween together, so without further adieu:

It was a dark and cold night...I was staying at the Farney's (still recovering from my surgery a few weeks prior) and William was on his way to pick me up for dinner.
I had made Courtney a tuna casserole and was washing dishes when Sheba started barking ferociously, I jumped our of my skin! I turned to see what was the matter and was met by William pointing and laughing at me. William had the bright idea to turn off his headlights and drive the entire length of the Farney drive way in complete darkness (those of you who've been there know that is quite a feat). He then crept up the stairs without making a sound to get to the door and scare me...Guess he didn't plan on Sheba blowing his cover, but in the end he won because I was still scared.

I forgave him for being a jerk and we headed to dinner at-Olive Garden. Which actually we both don't like very much, but for some strange reason we ended up there.
After a while I was served my food and just as I placed the first bite into my mouth William gracefully bowed his head and in prayer said, "Dear God, please forgive Sammi for not blessing her food." Busted! We then blessed our first meal together. In my defense William and I had been to lunch before and never blessed those, so I didn't know. (I just now informed William of this revelation to which he responded "Whatever Sinner!" He's now back playing Diablo...see the irony?!)

After dinner William and I went back to the Farney's and William walked me to the door and noticed the pile of dishes still left in the sink. He rolled up his sleeves and proceeded to wash the remaining dishes and finished just as Courtney was returning home from her evening at Fright Fest.

We were all sitting around the bar talking when Courtney looked up at an unsuspecting William and asked "Can I put make-up on you?" To which a surprised William answered, "Are you going to tell anyone?" Courtney, "No"... "Are you going to take a picture?" "No"..."Will it wash off?" "Yes"..."Ok".

Courtney and I quickly scurried upstairs to find all of our make up and ran down before William could change his mind. We each made up half of his face. Courtney made him look like Mimi from the Drew Carey show and he decided that I made him look like the country singer Wynona Judd. It was hilarious, we even had his hair wrapped up in a towel turban. Afterwards we helped him wash it off at the sink...with the sprayer and apricot scrub which he informed me "hurt"! The price of beauty!

Afterwards, I asked William why he let us do it, he said it was because he knew it would make Courtney laugh. Another reason why I love this man, his willingness to sacrifice his pride (and masculinity) to make other people happy.

  • She totally left out the parts about the human-sacrifice and the Indian burial ground. And old man McGavers using stage props and film projectors to scare us in the haunted house.

The three of us plus the dog...one hippie-stoner short of a great Halloween mystery.
