No assembly required

William and I made our first "no assembly required" furniture purchase this weekend. We are having a lovely armoire delivered to the new place this Saturday. We're movin' on up...or at least I am. William could already afford to buy nice furniture before we were married, but this is the first no assembly piece we have acquired as a married couple.
It's still an adjustment for me. I grew up really poor and never knew what it was like to have nice furniture or clothes. I wore hand me downs and we didn't even have a dining table until I was around middle school aged. Yet, as bad as it seemed to me at the time, I know there were kids who had to deal with far worse. A guy in my Psych class told me that he went 2 years without electricity as a kid. I can't imagine how difficult that must have been for him. I mean kids were so harsh about the fact that I lived in a trailer, I can't imagine what they would do to the kid whose parents couldn't afford to pay the electric bill. Though thinking back on my younger days can be upsetting, it also serves as a reminder of the ways God has provided for me. God has blessed my life tremendously and not just financially. I am in awe of the grace and mercy he pours out to me each and every day.
