In the beginning

Skip to the "Working Over Time" part!

I'm busy as a beaver with bees in his mouth. In the past two weeks, I've accumulated quite a bit of overtime. I'm not going to complain about that. I'm not going to complain about having a major project every weekend until mid-October. After all, that is why my company moved me down here. Still, work was much less intrusive before we got married. I guess I never realized it. Now, I'm just trying to make sure my wife still knows I do more than just eat and sleep at our home. [insert jokes here]

Sammi probably sees the other side of the coin. She sees me coming home late, working late and leaving early. She isn't unhappy about it, but is patiently waiting it out. You have to love that about her: she is patient. Of course she is, look at who she married. Plus, she's been pretty busy with her new job. I even saw her bring home work last weekend. What the hell kind of organization sends you home with weekend work? Jerk-nuts, that who.

Anyhow, The Three Russells are coming to town tomorrow. They will be the first out-of-towners we've had since we moved down here. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to entertain them. I think I can entertain two adults, but as far as entertaining a baby? The only thing I know how to do is make stupid faces. It is my natural-born gift. I'm sure Sammi can think of something all five of us can do. I'll try to get some pictures in the process.

Also, for the folks back home: We will be in town September 24th through the 26th. I have a commitment up at church on Friday and Saturday night, but daytime hours are open. RSVP, BYOB, BYOBBQ.

  • Babies are kind of self-entertaining. ever notice how a room full of adults turn their attention to a baby in the room? There's always laughter and staring and waiting for the next cute thing the baby will do.

And thanks for making time for us in the over-time part of life, and for sharing your minimal time at home. We've enjoyed spending time with you both.

    William-

I am grateful for every minute I get to spend with you. I'm also grateful that you are willing to work so hard to provide for us.

  • I actually want to see what a beaver with a mouth full of bees would look like.
