In the beginning

“Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.”

1 John 3.18
Did you know that $10,000 USD will buy a school in Vietnam? A few months ago an organization built a school for the children who have to work during the day to support their families. This school allows the children to go to work during the day and to school at night. It breaks my heart to think of these children having to work so hard when we are so privileged. It is humbling when you consider that here in the States we have truancy officers trying to keep our kids in school and that in VN many of the children don’t even have the option to go to school.
My parents are trying to raise money to build another school for the children. Currently, they have been helping by sponsoring the children who cannot afford the $10 tuition and paying the salary for some of the teachers (which is only around $80 a year). They are also trying to raise funds for things like books and desks. The desks they have now were donated from another school and are in very poor condition. Everyone knows that I am half Vietnamese, so this cause is really close to my heart. It is really mind blowing to think that such insignificant amounts by our standards can help so much. I don’t want to abuse this forum, but if anyone is interested in helping, please let me know. Please keep these children in your prayers. And also, for my family’s safety please do not post anything political on this issue here. Thank you all for listening and know that in this case, truly, every little bit helps.

Happy Easter Everyone!

  • Isn't it amazing that those little ones work so hard. They must be thrilled to be able to go to school. I wish American children would appreciate what they have. I worked in a high school attendance office for a little while. I wish I could have sent some of those children to Vietnam to witness how well they have it here.
